“South Florida ranks seventh for the healthiest small-business climate in the South”

“South Florida ranks seventh for the healthiest small-business climate in the South, jumping four spots in one year, according to a new On Numbers analysis.

On Numbers based its scores on a six-part formula, analyzing population growth, rises or losses in employment, and concentrations of small, local, businesses. A small business is defined as any private-sector company with 99 or fewer employees.

The tri-county area (Broward County, Dade County & Palm Beach County) jumped to No. 7 among the 37 Southern markets in the U.S from No. 11 in 2011. A declining unemployment rate in South Florida has contributed to an improving small-business climate,  with the rate dropping to 9 percent in February from 10.6 percent in February 2010.”
